Abstract
The principle of this aims at investigating the causes of drug abuse in Nyendo Ssenyanga division secondary schools Masaka district. the research applied inspection method that involved qualitative and quantitative approaches of collecting raw data. ten questionnaires were sent to ten respondents who completed and returned all of them to the researcher. the respondents were randomly sampled. frequency tables and pie charts were used to assemble and analyze the raw data in percentages. the major causes of drug abuse among secondary school students were found out to be, psychological causes and these include, genetics, trauma, mental illness, important disclaimers, reward, memory, choice among others. Social causes include, peer pressure, easy access, poor self-esteem, being distressed emotionally, devil worship, sensitivity among others. environmental causes include, home and family, foreign pop culture, homelessness or hostile environment, stress, witnessing violence among other causes of drug abuse to secondary students. therefore, there is need for the government and all stakeholders to join hands in order to assuage the concern of drug abuse in secondary schools.
