dc.description.abstract | The study was conducted to examine the teachers· attitude about the performance of children with mental retardation in the Activities or Daily Living. The researcher used purposive and random sampling to select the respondent. The researcher used primary school teachers, Head teachers and parents. Questionnaires and interview guide were used as tools to collect the data. The study ascertained that; Teachers were committed to train Children with mental retardation in activities of Daily Living. The attitude of teachers was negative though they were training children in Activities of Daily Living. Teachers had no skills in special needs education .The teacher pt1pil- ratio was high Teachers experienced problems when training Activities of" Daily Living. Parents over protected their children. The following were recommendation • Guidance and counseling • Conducting refresher courses • Sensitization • Provision of enough instructional materials • Teacher- pupil ratio to be reduced • Sensitization • Use of varied methods • Use of enough instructional materials which arc relevant. • Refresher courses and training in Special Needs Education. | en_US |
