Abstract
The problem of street children has existed for a long time in the society, but there has been a wall of silence towards this problem, despite the hardship that these children are going through. Through social research and the danger that these children impose to the public at large researchers have come to discover these problems and have come up with ideas on how to minimize these problems in the society. Street children are people who are 18 years of age and below, who spend most of their active hours of the day and night on the street and for whom the street is their major source of socialization and growth. They are located in urban areas and of whom most of them have broken family tie or if they exist may be weak. The aim of this study was to examine the problem facing street children especially on the street of Nairobi and how the different media have stepped in to give a hand of the government and various organizations, so as to reduce these children on the streets. Thus the researcher was trying to find out the reason that causes these children to run to the streets and make it their home. The researcher also investigated from different Non-Governmental Organization and the government, of how the media has contributed to the eradication of these children on the streets.
