Abstract
The topic of the study was communication and employee performance in Kanungu district headquarters; the problem was to have effective communication in Kanungu district headquarters; the purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between communication and employee performance in Kanungu district headquarters.
The objectives of the study were to find out the forms of communication in Kanungu headquarters, to establish the effects of communication on employees' performance in Kanungu district headquarters, and to find out the barriers to effective communication in Kanungu district headquarters.
The study used quantitative and qualitative research design.
The findings of the study indicated the following;
The study discovered that there are forms of communication used in Kanungu district headquarters are downward, upward, horizontal, verbal and written.
The effects of communication on performance in Kanungu district headquarters are increased efficiency, increased quality, increased customer responsiveness and innovation.
The study also discovered that the barriers to effective communication in Kanungu district headquarters are; language barriers, emotions, channel barriers and stereotyping and others.
In conclusion there are different forms of communication used by in Kanungu district headquarters, are upward, downward and horizontal, verbal, and written; communication has both negative and positive consequences on employee performance in Kanungu district headquarters and there are some barriers to effective communication in Kanungu district headquarters such as channel barriers, stereotyping, cultural barriers and others.
