Abstract
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a familiar concept for big business. Mái~I large companies are allocating time and resources to explore CSR. This growing recognition of CSR has also taken a centre stage in the Ugandan economy where some organizations are undertaking CSR activities. CSR is a concept that frequently overlaps with similar approaches such as corporate sustainability, corporate sustainable development, corporate responsibility, and corporate citizenship. This study was bent on finding out the links between Corporate Social
Responsibility and market development with the aim of determining the importance of corporate Social Responsibility in market Development, identifying the Factors that affect corporate Social Responsibility, and establishing the link between corporate Social Responsibility activities of organizations and Market
Development, and was undertaken in western Uganda with a focus on MTN activities. The study undertook a descriptive research design, and findings reveal that corporate social responsibility goes hand in hand with Activities of MTN Uganda. The study concluded that CSR and market developments are closely related, social responsibility is regarded as an important business issue in market Development and that behaving in a socially responsible manner could provide both demand and supply side benefits to organizations.
