This study was undertaken to carry out an investigation on promotion policies and employees’ performance in branches of Golis Company in Dhahar, Puntland, Somalia. The objectives of the study were to establish the promotion policies, to determine the level of employees’ performance and to establish the relationship between the promotion policies and employees’ performance in the branches of Golis in Dhahar. The study employed descriptive correlation study design. With regards to this method, the researcher used both structured and unstructured questionnaires which were based on simple and understandable questions and also interviews. Responses from the study respondents suggested that the promotion policies in Golis were poor. The researcher found out that though some strides had been made in improvement of the promotion aspects; still there are a couple of challenges which hamper the performance of the employees. As a result, the employees’ performance has remained to be significantly low. It was also established that there was indeed a relationship between the promotion policies and employees’ performance which stood at 0.419 on the Pearson Correlation scale which was interpreted as positive and fairly average relationship. The researcher suggested that it had become imperative that there be significant improvement on the aspects by means of assigning more authority to vertically promoted employees, ensuring authority is used maturely, horizontal promotions should be accompanied by pay rises, dry promotion should be accompanied by some degree of autonomy and decisions in operations should be left to the employees themselves. This according to the researcher would help improve the performance of the employees at Golis.en_US
