| dc.description.abstract | This thesis is about ICT usage in Patients’ Records Management with the main objective of establishing the relationship between ICT usage and patients RMS in selected UPF clinics in Kampala — Uganda. The study was conducted in Nsambya Police Clinic, Kibuli Police Training School Clinic and Naguru Police Clinic. The specific objectives of the study included (i) To determine the demographic characteristics of the respondents in terms of age, gender, educational level, experience and status; (ii) To establish the level of significance of ICT usage in patients’ records management system in the selected UPF clinics in Kampala; (iii) To identify the type of Patients’ RMS currently in use by the force medical department; (iv) to determine if there is a significant relationship between the level of ICT usage and Patients’ RMS in the UPF medical section in Kampala. The researcher used case study design with both quantitative and qualitative approaches adopted for the study. Research instruments employed included questionnaire, observation and interview for collecting data required for the study. The researcher in this study found out that male contributed 51.2 percent of the respondents and 48.8 percent were female. The researcher found out that the rate of ICT usage is still very low. It was also found out that the patients’ RMS is not computerized rather manual. The Null hypothesis of the study was rejected because the correlation indicated a positive significant relationship between the variables of r-value of 0.904 and the significance value of 0.01. Recommendations were made on initializing computerization of medical records, training of staff and networking of available computers for purpose of sharing files. | en_US |
