Abstract
This study was guided by the topic; An investigation on Community participation towards the
Education of children with disabilities in Kachumbala sub county, Bukedea District. The study
was as well guided by the objectives as follow identify the causes of disabilities in the research
area, (2) to find out the factors that affect Education of the children with disabilities, (3) to find
out the solutions to the identified problems above.
The study used both quantitative and qualitative research designs. Quantitative method presented
the results in a mathematical form while qualitative method involved a human based judgment.
The sample size was I 00 respondents selected from the respondents (mainly from teachers,
parish chiefs, local councilors and community leaders). A well designed questionnaire was used
to collect data in the simplest language favoring all the parties in Kachumbala Sub-county. In
order to obtain other relevant information, and data collection methods like interview guide.
Conclusion; for effective saving of children with disabilities in Kachumbala, carrying out service
delivery response to child protection, following up and monitoring, motivation of teachers was
crucial to determine the safety of children with disabilities and determining the needs of those
children to be worked upon in terms of quality improvements. Secondly, there are several effects
of disability to the children. Despite the fact that Kachumbala has improved the needs of those
children, this has not matched to the quality of the services of other sub-counties.
The study recommended that the Sub-county needs to carry out more research based innovation
with regard to the quality of the services so as they get to the level of other sub-counties. The
study recommended that the Sub-county should put forward a list of enabling factors to improve
the effectiveness of education of children with disabilities with regard to the required results.
These factors could include motivation of teachers and provision of scholastic material for the
disabled.
