Abstract
The main objective of the study was to investigate the acquisition and maintenance problems of human resources and possible solutions to such problems. All administrators and 30 lecturers who were selected using simple random sampling techniques were targeted to participate in the study. Among those who were given questionnaires, only 8 administrators and 21 lech\fers responded to the questionnaires. Data was tabulated in tables, percentages were calculated and findings were interpreted. A discussion was then done to compare the findings with what other scholars had discovered, the findings of the study revealed that the university faced recruitment problems which included lack of required skills by some applicants and competition for highly qualified workers with other organizations especially universities. A study was conducted using questionnaires among administrators and lecturers and the findings revealed lack of required skills by some applicants and competition as the major recruitment problems faced by the organization. It was therefore concluded that the university faces some recruitment problems. Solutions to human resource recruitment and maintenance problems faced by the university. In order to find solutions to human resource recruitment and maintenance problems, a study was conducted among lecturers and administrators. The findings revealed that the university was motivating its human resource by giving loans such as car loans and housing allowances. It was therefore concluded that the university is trying to find solutions to recruitment and maintenance programs faced by the university. The major recommendations that were got from the study finding include, the university should advertise for jobs in Ugandan media and international media which will enable the university to attract highly qualified workers. The university should also improve the level of motivation of workers so more and more highly qualified workers are attracted and the already working staffs are maintained.
