dc.description.abstractThis study intended to determine the role of supervision and how its level affects the level of utilizing school resources in Bungoma County. The research answered the following questions; What is the profile of respondents in terms of gender, age, length of service and education level, What is the level of supervision in schools of Bungoma County, What is the level of utilization of school resources in Bungoma County, Is there a significant difference in utilization of school resources in Private schools and public schools, rural schools and urban schools, Is there a significant relationship between the level of supervision and utilization of school resources? A cross section design method was used to collect data for this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 385 teachers from 40 schools of both primary and secondary schools. The findings of the study were: private schools have a higher level of internal supervision and utilization of school resources compared to public schools. There was also a direct relationship between supervision and utilization of school resources. The study concluded that internal supervision determines how the school activities are done and resources used. Recommendations made included stepping up the level of supervision in public schools so as the government resources invested in education is well used, the school heads and principals should be trained regularly on how to efficiently utilize the resources they have in their schools and be creative to reduce school expenses on some projects. More external supervisors should be employed to reduce the work load of the few supervisors available.en_US
