dc.description.abstractMotivation represents the ootcomes of sevetal behavioral inputs such as attitude and teaming, and it is an important concept receMng considerable attention from academics, researchers and practicing managers. This study was carried out to assess how motivated teachers were to impart effectively knowledge and skills to /earners In primary schools of Chepkorto division, Keiyo district The fi:Jllowing objectives guided the study: to find out if the teachers ~re getting basic needs from schools where they t:Jught; to find out if they felt any secure while teaching; to establish if at all schools were providing the social needs to these teachers in order to perform well, to establish if the schools had put in place job enrichment strategies in order to build the esteem of leaders, and to find out if schools as organization were In position to help teachers aspire and grow academically. The respondents used in the study were forty teachers who filled a semi-structured quesoonnaire cont:Jining items which had been formulated from the objectives. Findings showed that schools had provided money incentives to the staff members in form of salary payments, some few school provided more incentives such as bonus, appreciation for a job enrichment done and over time teaching. It was also established that teachers received food,, housing from the schools. Findings fi.Jrther highlighted that teachers safety and social needs as well as self actualization needs were well catered for and teachers were lf1erefore expected to be motivated to work. It was ruled out that work conditions were responsible for the poor perfonnance of teachers in schools. It was recommended that teachers as managers continue to provide conducive working conditions for their staff members in order to make them even work harder.en_US
