dc.description.abstractMalnutrition continues to affect the large number of children under the age of five, particularly in developing countries. A cross sectional study was carried out in kitale distict hospital hospital in Transzoia County august 2013. The study’s main objective was assessment of nutritional status of children under five years of age in kitale distict hospital. A total of 100 respondents were interviewed/ total of 150 questionnaires issued and data analyzed manually in excel and calculators and presented in tables and figures. The researcher concluded that the major causes of Malnutrition included; Poverty ,Lack of knowledge on malnutrition, Early weaning of the child, Poor methods of food preparation, Cultural practices like not using family planning and Low socio – economic classen_US
