Abstract
This research is about the impact of environment on academic performance in selected
secondary schools in Mateete Sub-County, Sembabule district. It was guided by three
objectives; To identify ways in which environment can be improved to suit academic school
performance. To identify the effects of environment on school performance. To identify roles
of schools in keeping environment.
Purposive and stratified sampling was used to select a population of 60 respondents to
represent a population of Mateete Sub-County, Sembabule district.
Among the recommendations given was that the ministry of education should mind about
providing all the schools with enough teaching and learning materials to favour the learners
and help them perform well. The ministry of education should encourage teachers to teach
well by increasing their salaries and allowances and also paying in time.
