| dc.description.abstract | This research set out the legal circumstances that have obtained in Uganda for a very long time in the area of consumer protection on the sale of goods and supply of services with the legislations that underpin it. The study established that legislation on consumer protection in Uganda is fragmented, over time however, a new disjointed legal dispensation has taken Centre stage. Even with the few interventions in the form of legislation, there is a disconnection between the legal provisions and their practical application. However, as per now, there is less influence of foreign laws on consumer protection legislation in Uganda since there has been the formulation of an independent Ugandan Act on consumer protection known as the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act ,2017 .The objective of this Act is clear in its long title as it states that An Act to provide for the formation, effect, obligations and performance of contracts for the sale of goods and supply of services; to provide for remedies of the parties under those contracts; to provide for consumer protection; and for related matters. The objective of the study was basically to analyze The Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 2017.The methodology of the research was a doctrinal research where the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, was the primary source of law as well as decided cases and other secondary sources of law like journals and articles. It was found out under the study that since the commencement of Act, there were no regulations to operationalize it. And that the study recommended that Government should formulate and implement an independent national consumer protection law. | en_US |
