Abstract
The study was about the socio-economic impact of polygamy on the children in Marigat Division Baringo District in Kenya. This area was chosen because polygamy is still being practiced there and a number of problems are faced in those homes. The review of related literature was done and views of the scholars were summarized and criticism was done by the researcher in order to fill the research gaps identified. The methods used to collect data were questionnaire and interviews. Three objectives and the research questions were set for the study. It was found out that polygamy has a big impact on the socio-economic life of the children especially their conduct, education and economic welfare. From these findings the researcher found out that there are other factors which influence the conduct, education and economic welfare of the family like hereditary and environmental factors. The major recommendation by the research way to improve the family income; encourage monogamy and family planning programmes. The church and the government should work together to improve the general welfare of the family.
