dc.description.abstractThe a fore going research was carried out on across Uganda with an intention to examine prevalence, causes, effects and factors depending the effectiveness of the copyright protection and neighbouring rights in Uganda. This research attempts to trace the genesis of copyright and its progress up to the present situation showing the changes and the circumstances that have occurred overtime making copyright more multifaceted and mystifying to the lay man. The research discusses the sources of copyright and neighbouring rights giving them as a cause of effective of protection in Uganda the research gives the critical overview to the copyright and neighbouring rights in Uganda. A copy right and neighbouring rights 2006. The 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. The access to the information Act 2006 the copyright and neighbouring regulation of 2010. The research will also analyze the noble principle of client- advocate privilege in relation to copyright law given that this privilege hinders its effectiveness in protection. The law on copyright and neighbouring rights have been argued as the most contentious element of the law on copyright in Uganda. Its likely to prove its controversial nature thus triggering further research on the same. During research process different methods ()/research process were applied which include questionnaire interviews with professionals observation. Which include fact finding missions whereby the researcher would observe the factors in the actual sense by interacting with the respondents, library research which involved comparison of literature that was previously research on a relevant field both on local and international level. Basing on the findings it can be concluded that effectiveness of copyright and neighbouring rights protection in Uganda calls for implementation of the laws which are still ineffective. Preventive measures need to also be taken especially the sources of piracy that form the subject of the protection of copyright and neighbouring rights Act in Ugandaen_US
