The study examined the public procurement and disposal of public assets (PPDA) in Uganda, with a case study ofYumbe district local government which has a total population of 2,142 civil servants in all departments from which a sample size of 340 respondents was randomly selected. The study was quantitative since the major findings from the field were descriptively presented through the use of tables and graphs for easy understanding and interpretation. The study had four research objectives and questions which included; evaluating the relationship between PPDA and its performance; examining the impacts of PPDA in Yumbe district; identifying the challenges of PPDA in Yumbe district; and to suggest the possible solutions to the challenges faced. Using a cross-sectional survey design in which a survey questionnaire and interview guards were used to collect the required data, the study was able to make the following findings: The male gender is the highest with 58%, 62% of the respondents were married, most of the respondents were in the age group 41-50 with 41%, 70% of the total population are Muslims, 41 % were degree holders, most of the civil servants have spent 6-10 years in Yumbe local government as indicated by 29%. The findings also revealed that there is close collaboration amongst the different departments of the local government as indicated by 81 % of the respondents who also said effectively engage in PPDA. The leading impact of PPDA is improving standards of the public entities such as roads, hospitals, schools and so on. The study also revealed that intentional failure of the civil servants to observe and follow the required PPDA principles is the main challenge as indicated by 55%. The researcher therefore recommended the following to realize the positive impacts of PPDA in Yumbe local government: establishing legal laws and principles of the PPDA in the district; ensuring close working relationship among the departments of the local government to ensure team work; ensuring proper accountability and transparency; and finally proper planning of the public procurement and disposal of assets.in Yumbe district local government.en_US
