This research involves identifying the effects of gender equality in Uganda and how the concept of gender equality is promoted by women and men's rights movements/organizations (feminism and masculinism). The jurisdiction that the research focuses on is Uganda though other jurisdictions were quoted when relevant. The research shows that unlike the misconceptions and stereotypes, gender equality is concerned with both male and female. This research has been conducted using mostly qualitative method of data collection. The concept of gender equality aims to achieve genuine equality between men and women by planting the idea of respecting human rights deeply into society's psyche. This research shows how gender equality has gradually evolved decade after decade and how contrary to the past years, there has been immense improvement in growth of the concept in our society and the legal framework hence the theory of feminism and masculinism. It is for the above reasons that this research has been carried out. The findings of this research are that gender equality has impacted the lives of Ugandans in many ways for instance the educational sector, prope1ty rights, poverty eradication, employment and the family life; and some common misconceptions of gender equality were also discussed. The recommendations given are judicial activism, the revision and enactment of the Domestic Relations Bill, engaging men in the activism of gender equality, practical recognition of male victims and the encouragement of women to advocate for both gender equality and equity. These recommendations if implemented, may be beneficial for the development of the legal framework and the community at large.en_US
