Abstract
The study was concerned with quality structured linguistic program and level of
language development of Ekerenyo Academic Division in Nyamira North, Nyamira
county, Kenya. The purpose of the study was to test the hypothesis of no
significant relationship, validate maturationist theory by Piaget and generate
information for future use. The study was guided by 4 objectives, determining
the demographic profile of the respondents, the quality of structured linguistic
program, the level of language development and the significant relationship
between quality structured linguistic program and level of language development
The study applied descriptive correlational survey because structured linguistic
program will be correlated with language development. The main research
instrument used to obtain data during the study was Likert scale questionnaire
which is researcher made, to suit the objectives of the study. Data collection was
guided by the research questions and objectives. A total of 336 respondents
were interviewed Results from the study and analysis showed that there was a
significant relationship between quality structured linguistic program and level of
language development of learners of pre schools. Revelations from the study
further indicated that there is low level of language development and lack of
quality structured linguistic program, in pre schools of Ekerenyo Division,
Nyamira North District Nyamira county Kenya. The study further recommended
that quality structured linguistic program should be enhanced for language
development. The administration from the ministry down to the child’s learning
environment should ensure the usage of quality structured linguistic program
and development to enhance improvement of the level of language
development
