dc.description.abstract | This work << APPRAISAL OF AGRICULTURAL PROJECT IN RWANDA DEVELOPMENT BANK (BRD) is a result of research conducted in Rwanda in the above-mentioned bank. the paper analyzes some of the critical factors that determine project success in BRD, determine the parts financed in agricultural funding process and expose the challenges faced by different parties involved in funding agricultural projects during the period 2002-2009 and suggest possible solutions. The study was performed under descriptive research design. Key data were gathered using document study and questionnaires administered to different staff of the bank. Managers targeted were involved in financing, credit administration, and loans recovery and contract enforcement. Experience and skills based on the feasibility studies, Character, Adequate technical capacities in agriculture field, Cash flow, collaterals are major factors that banks consider to the first place ,and are the major factors that explain by the fact that of increasing investigations and have highest information about borrowers and agricultural projects concerned. Regarding financed parts in agricultural projects, the study demonstrates different clarify that the big portion of funds in this sector is orient in Implementation and tools, followed by production inputs and funding processing. However, the difficulty of managing and coping with risks caused by liquidity shortage on those projects was pointed out as a big challenge, especially those of a systemic nature. The study suggested that the bank could introduce agricultural finance as part of a long-term strategy in recognition of the potential longer-term benefits. Concerning bank ability of projects in optic of reducing credit risk. Government could use various policy measures and instruments to reduce the level of systemic risk and strengthen the capacity of agricultural investors and BRD to manage and cope with its impact. | en_US |
