Despite the government and other stakeholders effort to achieve parity conditions in gender participation in primary school education ,the girl child continues to be disadvantaged among pastoral communities such as Tugen community of Baringo. The Tugens who migrate from one place to another in search of pasture and water for their livestock has a lifestyle that disadvantages the girl child in accessing education. The purpose of this study therefore was to establish the factors that influence girl child participation in primary school education among this pastoral community. The survey design method was used. This is because it enables a researcher to obtain information that describes the phenomena under study. The population ofthe study constituted 304 girls in four primary schools and 62 teachers. The study involved a sample of 80 girls drawn ~i~m the four primary schools and 20 teachers using random sampling. The research instrument used was questionnaire. The data was presented on tables and analyzed using qualitative method. The findings of the study are expected to encourage the Tugen community to take education of girl child seriously. The study will also help NGOs teachers and the government to make useful input and uplift girl child education. Researchers will use the recommendations of this study to carry out related research in this areaen_US
