| dc.description.abstract | The study examined United Nations Women and women rights in Uganda. The study objectives were: to examine factors influencing Women rights violations in Uganda, to assess the contributions of UN Women in promoting women rights in Uganda and to examine challenges faced by UN Women in promoting women rights in Uganda. The study applied a cross-sectional research design to reflect aspects of perception, feelings, experiences, facts and emotional feelings of the study respondents in examining the United Nations women and promotion of women rights in Uganda. The study applied a cross-sectional research design to reflect aspects of perception, feelings, experiences, facts and emotional feelings of different categories of respondents in examining the research questions of interest. The target population of the study was 148 respondents and this included total of 10 staff of UN Women Regional Office in Kampala, 3 leaders from each of the six UN partner organizations and 120 beneficiaries from all the six UN partner organizations. A sample of 116 responded to pre-designed interviews and/or questionnaires. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources using questionnaires and interviews, and well-answered questionnaire were organized into for meaningful interpretation by sorting and editing. The data was presented in tabular form with descriptive and inferential statistics. The study finds that the limitations of women in public life and decision-making processes at all levels increases their vulnerability to women rights violations. The study recommends mass sensitization about women rights, including through dissemination of information materials on the referral pathways for violence against women and girls. | en_US |
