dc.description.abstractThe study sought to examine stress management and employee effectiveness in selected commercial banks in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia. According to the problem statement, it was indicated that at selected commercial banks, heavy workload, infrequent breaks, long work hours and shift work, hectic and routine tasks with little inherent meaning, lack of skills needed, and little sense of control, lack of participation by workers in decision-making and poor communication in the organization. The study objectives were; to establish the relationship between time management and employee effectiveness in selected commercial banks in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia, to establish the relationship between exercise and relaxation and employee effectiveness in selected commercial banks in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia and to examine the relationship between employee empowerment and employee effectiveness in selected commercial banks in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia. This study used correlation research design this was because it involved the Level of employee empowerment in selected commercial banks in Bosaso. The study also employed quantitative approach. Quantitative methods were used in data collection and analysis and general information on the subject matter was collected from the different stakeholders involved in the study. The researcher targeted 330 staff from the selected commercial banks. A sample size of 181 respondents was determined through purposive and random sampling methods. The researcher used varieties of sampling which included: Purposive and random sampling. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources using questionnaires and interviews. After collecting data, the researcher organized well-answered questionnaire, data was edited and sorted for the next stage. The data was presented in tabular form, pie charts and bar graphs with frequencies and percentages. The study found out that there exists a positive significant relationship between time management and employee effectiveness with a Pearson Correlation of 0.789, since the sig. value (0.000) was less than 0.05. This implies that increase in time management also increases the effectiveness of employees in selected commercial banks in Bosaso. It was also found out that time management exert most positive significant influence on the employee effectiveness as its significance value stood at 0.611 and thus the most influential variable. This indicator was followed by exercise and relaxation at 0.577 and lastly employee empowerment was least influential variable with a beta coefficient of 0.501. This suggests that the three selected variables were highly and collectively influential on the employee effectiveness. The study concludes that individuals commonly experience stress both from personal and work place. It is important to understand both of these sources of stress and their possible interactions. The study recommends that in order for organisations to improve employee effectiveness and reduce stress at work, the researcher recommends that; Organisations should ensure good working environment for the employees and ensure that measures to minimize occupational stress are put in place.en_US
