Abstract
This study seeks to analyze the laws governing protection of children rights in Uganda. The study will also focus on the rights guaranteed by 1995 constitution as well as the children Act cap 159.with regard to the constitution reference will be made to article 34 and also the rights of the children as inscribed in the bill of rights. The constitution guarantees the following rights to children; the right to life, the right to medical care, the right to education, and the right against t01ture or inhuman treatment, the right to know their parents and be cared for by their parents. Despite there being laws guaranteeing this rights, violation of children rights is still rampant in Uganda due to poor enforcement mechanisms. in order to make tremendous improvement much is needed to be done on the ground if these rights are to be fully realized as many of the people are still not vast with the law governing these rights, public education on children rights should be conducted in order to change cultural beliefs and traditions that undermine the realization of the children rights. There is a need for an urgent amendment of the law (children's Act) in the move of according children more protection especially when it comes to current rampant cases of child sacrifice which has led to the killing of children thereby denying them the right to life. In this study a revisitation of the related literature, laws and works of other authors in relation to children rights was used. During analysis of the data qualitative techniques of data collection were used.
