dc.description.abstract | The topic of the study was Physical Exercise and Play and Academic Performance in Kadibo Division, Kisumu County, Kenya. The purpose of the study was to establish whether there is a relationship between Physical Exercise and Play and Academic Performance in Kadibo Division, Kisumu County, Kenya. It was guided by three objectives and these are; to establish the level of Physical Exercise and Play among young learners in Kadibo Division, Kisurnu County, Kenya, to determine the academic performance among young learners in Kadibo Division, Kisumu County, Kenya and to establish the relationship between physical exercise and play on academic performance among young learners in Kadibo Division, Kisurnu County, Kenya. The methodology of the study was basically descriptive approach with co-relational design, cross-sectional study. The study found out that the levels of physical exercise and play and academic performance was high at a general mean of 2.9. The study also found out that there was improved performance of young leaners in the area of study which was reflected with a general mean of 3.04. They also show that there is a positive relationship between physical exercise and play and academic performance in Kadibo Division, Kisumu County, Kenya which was reflected with r-value of 0.88 at a significant level of 0.000 which was less than 0.05.The study recommended that there is a need to provide more play facilities like mixed apparatus and enough space for plying ground. This was highlighted as one of the needs if the children are to benefit fully from playing. The administrators, governments and other stake holders should ensure that there are enough playing materials and ground such as football pitches among others. The study also recommended that to build a wholesome person requires a wholesome opportunities and character building. Therefore, curricular activities should be encouraged in schools so as to enable skill building. | en_US |
