Abstract
Kenya's youth are dying at an early age because of these vice which has threatened to take over their lives which has proved to be a challenge to the community at large which is keen to ensure that their youth are one day considered to be people of importance. This study on "effects' of drug trafficking and drug abuse on the youth of Mombasa and Malindi County was carried out in coast province, in Kenya. It was specifically aimed at finding out the causes of drug trafficking, establishing the effect and role played by actors, together with the challenges faced by the actors. To comprehend the problem, a documentary review was carried out on the literature on the specific aims. A descriptive exploratory design observing qualitative and quantitative aspects was used to obtain data on the variables by use of questionnaire and interview guide as research instruments administered on a sample of 60 respondents. The study recommended the conununity, government and other concerned organizations to; reorient decision makers on the need to be inclusive, devise measures that are collaborative in nature, table a bill in parliament to reduce the powers of the Minister, management be done by a board of trustees, devise and meet out harsh penalties on infringes, ensuring public accessibility to timely and relevant information among others.
