Introduction: Malaria continues to be an economic burden and a great threat globally and almost impossible to eradicate for the past six decades. Malaria is by far the leading cause of death in Nsiika health centre IV. The disease is responsible for 25% of deaths of children below 5 years. Uganda is a malaria endemic country in which malaria control measures such as the use of insecticide treated bed nets (ITNs), indoor residual spraying of insecticide (IRS), and Intermittent Preventive Treatment (IPTp) for children have been implemented. Despite of all these efforts, the overall prevalence of malaria infection remains high among the under-five children. Therefore the Purpose of this study was focused on socioeconomic and behavioral aspects of malaria and its control among children under the age of 5 years in Nsiika Health Center IV. The study Design was a descriptive quantitative cross-sectional study which was conducted in a period of four weeks in Nsiika region. Setting. Nsiika area in Buhweju region in western Uganda at coordinates of 00020’40.0”S, 30025’00.0”. Subject. About 380 children under five years living in villages of Nsiika within Buhweju. Outcome measures: social-economic and behavior aspect on incidence of malaria in Nsiika: Result: The study shows decrease in education level from primary to university, primary 58%, O-level 26%, A-level 16%. On the other hand, there was also decrease in malaria prevalence with the increase in education level. The findings 90% revealed that majority of the participants perceived general malaria treatment to be expensive. Conclusion: This study showed the importance of socioeconomic status as well as education in the fight against malaria. In order for malaria to be eliminated in the population it is important for the government to empower the population economically and also ensure that health education is a part of the efforts that are put in place to fight malaria. This will assist in the fight to eliminate malaria. Recommendation: There must be programs to empower the communities so that they improve their social-economic status and this in turn helps to reduce prevalence of malaria. It is important that caregivers especially mothers have access to information on malaria and how to identify signs and symptoms so that suspicious cases can be quickly identified and appropriate action is taken in order for the children to get the treatment that they need.en_US
