Abstract
The present study assessed Microfinance management and economic
development selected in Rubavu District Western Province of Rwanda.
The research was guide by four objectives; to establish the profile of the
respondent in terms of gender, age, position in microfinance and experience,
establish the levels of microfinance management, determine the level of economic
development in Rubavu district and finally to establish the relationship between
microfinance management and economic development in Rubavu district.
The research followed a descriptive correlation survey design. Primary data
was collected using self administered questionnaire issued to the respondent. Data
was collected using a simple size of 122 from a population of 146 of two
microfinance’s UMUTANGUHA and UNION DES CRECAM Located in Rubavu district.
Data analysis was done Data analysis was based on descriptive statistics
(SPSS) and presented in tables, percentages and with the used Person’s correlation
which was used to measure the relationship between microfinance management and
economic development in Rubavu district.
The findings disclose a positive and significant relationship between
microfinance management and economic development in Rubavu district,
Thus the study recommends encouraging the people in rural area to the
successful operation of microfinance management for economic growth. Government
should consider of establishing microfinance management to help economic
development.
