dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to determine the factors that are responsible for the increasing family conflicts and their resolutions. The study was carried out in Bwambara Sub-county, Rukungiri District in western Uganda. The researcher used cross sectional survey design to obtain opinions of the respondents in different families based on the following objectives. The study was set to determine the factors responsible for the increase in family conflicts and their resolution strategies in Bwambara Sub county, Rukungiri District. The study was done in accordance with the following research objectives; To find out the factors responsible for the increase in family conflicts To find out the effects of family conflicts on the family conflicts To find out the strategies used to resolve family conflicts The study revealed 100 respondents from different families who were purposively selected for the study. The findings revealed that financial constraints, alcoholism, child indiscipline, infidelity, polygamy, disrespectfulness, traditional beliefs, unemployment, differing opinions, infectious diseases and cultural backgrounds are factors responsible for increasing family conflicts The findings also revealed that loss of self esteem, immorality, divorce, lack of child care, child abuse, domestic violence and destruction of property, murder, abandoned homes, separation and drug abuse are the effects of family conflicts on the well being of family members The findings revealed that effective communication, sensitization and proper parental guidance are resolutions for family conflicts. The study recommended that family members should clearly identify and resolve different family conflicts arising in different families. The study also recommended that family members should seek guidance and counseling in order to solve their family conflicts.en_US
