Abstract
The purpose of the study is to critically examine the effective of the right to peaceful assembly
in Uganda.The study was guided by four objectives
i. To examine the legal & institutional framework on human rights
ii. To examine the legal rights to peaceful assembly in Uganda
iii. To examine the protection and enforcement mechanisms of’ human rights in Uganda.
iv. To assess the challenges affecting the right to peaceful assembly in Uganda.The study analyzed the place and relevance of human rights and public interest litigation iii the
Uganda legal system using both primary and secondary source of data. The study used
information from books, articles. cases, documents for analyzing the practice of public interest
litigation, the study exhaustively searched PIL cases the red and blue volumes, the internet. KIU
Library and the law development centre library.
