Abstract
This study was undertaken to investigate the effectiveness of the insurance laws of Uganda in regulating the local insurance sector. The main motivation behind the study was the fact that there were several inconsistencies in the sector which have negatively affected both the insured and the insurer. It was the researcher's premise that such problems arose because they were not properly addressed in the laws and that there was need for a thorough redress in totality. There were four main objectives in the study which included 1) To assess the trends within insurance sector of Uganda 2) To establish the strengths of the Insurance Laws in regulating the insurance sector of Uganda 3) To identify weaknesses within the Insurance Laws of Uganda in regulating the insurance sector of Uganda 4) To advise on possible additions and or revisions on the Insurance Laws of Uganda. The research mainly used documentary evidence from libraries, journal, newspaper articles, internet sources and many more. Ultimately the study outlined suggestions which if adopted should significantly boost the sector both in the short and long run.
