dc.description.abstract | The study delved into the relationship between School climate and teacher safety in selected secondary schools in Kuria East District, Kenya. Specifically the study wanted to establish; (1) the profile of the respondents (2) The level of school climate (3) the level of teacher safety (4) and the relationship between school climate and teacher safety. A descriptive correlational survey design was used to collect data from 79 selected secondary teachers, A questionnaire was then used as an instrument to collect data, Data analysis was done using frequencies and percentage distribution, means and Pearson’s linear correlation coefficient (PLCC).The findings of the study revealed that: there were more male teachers in the district than female, most teachers were degree holders, teaching experience for most teachers was below 5 years and mixed day schools had more teachers than any other type of school. The school climate and teacher safety were rated as good in the district. The following conclusions were drawn, there was a significant relationship between school climate and teacher safety. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made; Administrators in secondary schools should promote cohesiveness, trust, and respect amongst teachers, improve the physical infrastructure and curb violence. They should provide a good work environment, stability and security for teachers in secondary schools. | en_US |
