Abstract
The study focused on enrollment in ECDE centers on the learning process since
the introduction of Free Primary Education (F.P.E) in the year 2003.
This resulted into over enrollment in primary schools. Due to this, the researcher
decided to investigate on the impact of free primary education on enrollment in
ECDE Centers. The researcher used questionnaire as the main tool to collect
raw data, which were later filled by the respondents freely without fear and said
what they thought about the introduction of free primary education in the year
2003.
The researcher targeted 26 ECDE Centers in Kegonga Division and through
random sampling she came up with Centers which she carried out the study.
The purpose of the study included explaining the importance of enrollment of
children in ECDE centers. The study revealed the difference in enrollment in
various ECDE centers.
Through research, the researcher tried to establish what brings low or higher
enrollment in ECDE centers. After establishment of the problems the researcher
came up with solutions to them by laying strategies on how to support the ECDE
programmes.
The researcher also discussed the limitation and delimitation of this study.
Defined terminologies used in the study. The collected data was analyzed using
the computer packages based on the research objectives.
