This paper examined the contribution of Universal Primary Education on academic performance of pupils from selected schools in Kirinyaga County. Using the information obtained from the selected schools from the county, the study tried to uncover the reasons as to why the performance of pupils in Kirinyaga County was still wanting. The study unveiled that though there have been plans by the government to ensure that the performance of the children from the public schools has improved, much is still yet to be done. The general ratio of teacher to the student and the pupil’s attention from the teachers is also a point of concern.en_US
