Abstract
This study is thus basically going to investigate the impact of micro fiance services on poverty
reduction in Nebbi district, FICNA as a case study and the specific objectives are:-To determine
the levels of poverty reduction in Nebbi District; to determine the level of Micro Finance
services offered by_ fINCA in Nebbi District; ·to establish the significant relationship between
Micro Finance services and poverty reduction in ·Nebbi District; to determine the profile of the
respondents.
Research design, the researcher used both qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data
about micro finance on poverty reduction. Questionnaires were used as well as interview guide
A sample size of 181 derived from a target population of 340, were the respondents in this study.
Besides, a stratified sampling procedure was used.
The research findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between poverty and
micro finance services due to the fact that there is improved access to financial services enables
the poor to increase income and smooth consumption flows and thus expand their asset base and
reduce their vulnerability.
In Conclusion, .the correct application of research design, research instruments, and sampling . . ..
procedure and correct analysis of data has enabled the researcher to come out with the right
information on Micro Finance services on poverty reduction in Nebbi District
Basing on the finding in chapter four, the research therefore recommends that since there are
some indicators that show that micro finance institutions have not performed their
responsibilities to their expectation in relation to poverty reduction in Nebbi district basing on
some challenges and some recommendation should be sought for to bring about solutions to
those challenges as explained below. There is need for microfinance institutions to widen their
coverage even in rural areas so that the rural people can also have access to financial services
since even in my finds the respondents noted this challenge.
