dc.description.abstractThis Research Report on “Culture and HIV/AIDS PREVENTION” was carried out in Busoiwe Sub county Butaleja District. The objectives of the study included Assessing the spread of HIV/AIDS and its impact in a cultural perspective determining how and to what extent culture has featured to be the major source of consideration in the prevention of F-nV/AIDS and to examine the role of local leaders in the prevention of HIV/AIDS in Busolwe Sub county Butaleja District. The methodology of the study was a cross-sectional descriptive study which was more of qualitative in its methods of data collection. The study was more of qualitative because it studied in depth the relationship between cultural practices and the prevention of HIV/AIDS in Busolwe Sub county Butaleja District. In view of the target population, the sample size was 75 respondents taken from five selected Parishes. In Conclusion culture has negatively affected the social dimension of HIV/AIDS victims in Busolwe Sub County. Some of the recommendations of the study was that there is need to bridge the gap between culture and HIV/AIDS. This can be achieved by having the parents, teachers and other caregivers supervised on the methods of handling tradition and cultural practices in Busolwe Sub-county. The NGO’s and CBOs in collaboration with the government should continue taking care of the affected and infected families as a result of cultural practices. Traditional belief in witchcraft, inheritance of wives and husbands of whose spouses have died of HIV/AIDS be abandoned. The ABC formulae should be followed to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS disease. Stern rules and penalties should be given to all those who rape and defile children, and also those who practice child labour to avoid anti social behavior. There have been poor traditional and cultural practices which have enhanced poor social development children. These include FGM which cause HIV/AIDS infections. The worst is inheriting of wives and husbands whose spouses have died of HIV/AIDS, the witchcraft beliefs and unprotected sexual relationship all needs to be abandoned and banneden_US
