Abstract
The study intended to find out the effectiveness of the discovery method in teaching of upper primary mathematics in Mijwala sub-county, Mawogola county, Sembabule district. This was done by analysis results of the hypothesis tests from the data collected from teachers, Headteachers and from children. The study was carried out in the sub-county division which comprises of many schools and the total respondents among teachers were sixteen and schools observed were eight. Data was collected through questionnaire interview direct observation and experimentation. It was found out that children learn find it simple to understand learnt material if teachers used discovery method. The researcher made suggestions and recommendations which when adopted could help to curb the situation of using the discovery method in Nyabubare sub-county primary schools. J\t the same time of this study some assumptions were stated as better performance in the past progress can be recorded if the best methods are used when teaching upper primary mathematics.
