Abstract
The study aimed at examining the contribution of Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on Socio-economic empowerment in Entebbe Municipality, the objectives of the study were, to investigate the role of Non-governmental organizations (NGO5) on Socio-economic empowerment in Entebbe Municipality, to assess the challenges faced by Non-governmental organizations on socio-economic empowerment in Entebbe Municipality and to identify the solutions to the challenges faced by Non-governmental organizations (NGO5) working towards Socio-economic empowerment in Entebbe Municipality. The study focused on 3 NGOs operating in Entebbe Municipality. The information about these NGOs (both primary and secondary data) was collected using interviews, questionnaires, observation and focus group discussion. Findings shows that 49 % strongly agreed, 47% agreed with the view that the law should support the efforts of the NGOs to quickly punish the violators of community’s rights. The minority 4% of the respondents disagreed as though when asked could not give clear reasons to why they were disagreeing to the view of the law taking course in punishing the violator of the community member’s rights. It was established that the role of NGOs on socio-economic empowerment of communities have controlled abuse rates in Entebbe Municipality by giving evidence of some communities development centers established by NGOs in order to take care of the communities.
