Abstract
This is a prospective study which aimed at establishing the knowledge and attitude of cervical
cancer and Pap smear testing among the Kampala international university community.
The study was carried out at KIUTH, Ishaka town, Bushenyi District in Uganda.
Questionnaires were distributed randomly among the members after obtaining consent.
The study revealed that majority of the respondents were aware of cervical cancer, its risk
factors, the dangers and Pap smear testing. However despite the knowledge, a few had been
screened or had performed the screening test.
Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that health education on prevention of
cervical cancer, early detection and screening services should be done as an ongoing program.
