The research study was carried out to access students’ attitudes towards their prefects in secondary schools in Nakuru Central Division. A questionnaire survey was carried out among ten students, five teachers and their head teacher in each of the 6 schools chosen in the division. The study has indicated a high percentage of students as having negative attitude towards prefects. Respondents attribute the negative attitude to; student mistreatment by prefects, flexible school rules and also due to lack of representative at school. The school authorities also found that use of punishment as a major action to discourage conflict between students and prefects. The researchers however recommended that school authorities should cut down some privileges given to prefects as given to prefects as this provoked other students, punishments should be given according to the rules set by the school and prefect school not administer punishmenten_US
