dc.description.abstractThis study determined unrest and academic performance of Eldoret Polytechnic in Uasin Gishu District, Kenya. Specifically, this study determined the profile of the students as to age, gender, marital status, academic level. This study determined the degree of students’ unrest in terms of communication, teachers’ attitude, learning facilities/resources, drug and substance abuse. It determined the level of academic performance, determined if there was a significant relationship between degree of students unrest and level of academic performance, and determined if there was a significant difference in the level of academic performance between male and female students. Design: This study employed the descriptive survey method of investigation. Respondents: This study involved 165 out of 210 students, wherein 73 out of 90 were third year students and 92 out of 120 were second year students. Findings: This study revealed the following: the mean age of the students was 23; the degree of students’ unrest was 2.50 which was categorized as moderate; the level of academic performance was fair (mean= 49.38); It was evident that the degree of students’ unrest was not significantly related to the level of academic performance. Conclusion: Based on the findings, it was concluded that the students’ unrest and academic performance were not correlated.en_US
