| dc.description.abstract | The aim of the research was to examine the effect of procurement ethics on contract performance in the Uganda police force with the objectives of assessing the effect of; confidentiality, competition and transparency on contract management. The study used both quantitative and qualitative research design where a study population of 51 respondents was employed and a sample size of 45 respondents The effect of procurement ethics namely; competition, confidentiality and transparency in the Uganda police force, 48.2% the study found that procurement ethics greatly affect the initiation till the end of the contract which has been referred to as contract management, this was evidenced by the great number of respondents who agreed with these procurement ethics. 44.4% percent strongly agreed that competition affect contract performance, 55.5% agreed that confidentiality is paramount in the same contract performance In conclusion the study revealed that from the sample male were (46%) and female (54%) ranging from (45- 49) years and most were undergraduates and most of them had spent (6-10) years in the entity meaning they were experienced which meant that they had clear knowledge about the procurement procedures and this meant that procurement ethics are necessary for tl1e smooth running of the contracts since they guide the implementers and make a contract breakthrough. The researcher recommended that PDE should put in practice penalties for their unethical staff so that in process of ensuring ethical code of conduct, value for money is always envisaged in the police. | en_US |
