dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to examine the impact of teacher's attitude on performance of mentally retarded learners. The objective of the study was to examine the relationship between teacher's attitude and performance of mentally retarded learners. The researcher also investigated on teachers on knowledge mentally retarded learners. The researcher adopted a cross sectional survey design and used quantitative research design to analyze a large sample. Random sampling was used to select 200 respondents from a population of 2000 teachers from selected schools. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientist and was presented in frequencies. The findings indicated that the major causes of mentally retarded learners are: diseases, heredity, curses from God and witchcraft. The findings also indicate that there is a positive relationship between teacher's attitude and performance of mentally retarded learners.en_US
