Abstract
The general objective was to examine the role of Non-Governmental Organizations in Community Development in Uganda: A Case Study of Moroto District, the study objectives were, to identify the different NGOs involved in Community Development among the youth in Moroto District, to establish the contribution and changes brought by NOOs in Moroto District, and to find out the challenges affecting NGOs in Community Development among the youth in Moroto District. The study used a sample size of 15 respondents, the study found out that NGOs existence in Moroto is highly strategic in that it is firstly potential for the immediate service provision and growth of the Moroto community, and secondly it is inescapable necessity for the future development success of any town or City, the study also found out that; NGOs facilitates citizens’ participation in their community programs like piggery, poultry keeping, brick making among others, the study concluded that NGO participation in poverty eradication often comes at the price of strategic community reforms or change and this entails that countries need to embrace and support the activities of NGOs in their countries as; almost 50% of the study respondents who agreed on the need to stop government interference in NGO operations. The study recommended that government and other concern entities should work hand in hand so that communities can access finances/capital to start up some projects that can help them earn some money.
