Abstract
The research report 1s structured into the background to the study, literature review, methodology, the study findings and finally discussion, conclusion, summery and recommendations. This study was carried out at the Uganda national bureau of standards (UNBS) the specific objectives of this study were to; to establish the different steps or procedures in the procurement process. To examine the Key Performance Indicators of purchasing performance. To establish the relationship between procurement process and Purchasing Performance. The study was a descriptive case study in nature, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study population included all procurement related staff, members all totaling to 44 while the sample size was 24, data was gathered using both questionnaires and interviews while secondary data was from publications, books ,journals, acts and some organizational records. In chapter four, presentations including illustrations, analysis and interpretations of the research findings were fully presented, clearly bringing out the various responses by respondents on the questions asked under each study objective, these responses were presented in graphs, pie charts and tabular forms for easy understanding. In the last chapter, the study presented a thorough discussion, summery and conclusion on the subject matter investigated, and recommended a number of efforts aimed at improving the procurement performance among others. Some areas for further research were also suggested
