Abstract
The research was carried out in Matete Division, Western Kenya environment. The problem of statement was the alarming rate of girls' dropout although there was free universal education. Girls' dropout depended on the causes, which is an independent variable. The purpose of study was to investigate the main causes of girls' dropout and the efforts done by the teachers, parents and the Kenya government to control the problem. Methodology used included interviewing and questionnaire, which was carried out in six selected primary schools through, random sampling. The results showed that at least there were dropouts in each school and each class, with the highest number of girls' dropout in standard 6 and 7. Very few girls were readmitted back to school after delivery. There were many causes of girls' dropout and little effort done to stop the dropout rates.
Conclusively, parents, teachers and the Kenya government are required to join hands and control the girls' dropout. It is not one group's problem; it is for an entire society.
