dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study was to focus on a careful investigation on how the indicators such as teachers’ academic qualification, History teaching facilities and socio-economic status of parents affect the students’ performance in History at Bentiu Secondary School in Sudan Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) in Unity State, South Sudan between the periods of 2007-201 1 In this study, descriptive research design was used in order to establish the prevailing conditions in this selected school. The instruments employed in the study were questionnaires and guided interview for data collection in the specific area covered by the research. The answered research questions were four, while the percentages, frequency, mean and parson movement correlation have been used for data analysis. The state of students’ performance in History according to the findings revealed that their perlbrmance was poor with the mean of (17.2) which was their average performance in I-I istory. However, the effect of History teachers’ qualification has a positive relationship with (r~ 0.898) on the students. The state of History teaching facilities was low (12.6). As for socio-economic status of the parents and academic performance of the students, there was a good relationship with Therefore, these findings are very important for the stakeholders such as educational planners, policy makers, state and federal governments. For these reasons, it is also recommended that these indicators have to be seriously taken into account when planning and providing for secondary education.en_US
