dc.description.abstractThe research study sought to establish the relationship between perceived quality of procurement procedures on contract performance in local government focusing on Masaka District Local Government. Local Governments have been riddled with corruption and inefficiency when it comes to procurement. However there is no much scholarly works that have been done on the s subject of procurement procedures and contract performance. Despite this importance, very limited research has been done to examine the extent to which efforts in procurement procedures can contribute to effective local governance. The results indicate a very significant positive relationship between procurement procedures and Contract performance in local governance. The suggestions are made "for local government political and administrative stakeholders as well as policy makers in Uganda on the critical issues of procurement procedures essential for local governance. The study was driven by three objectives: it sought to establish the existing procurement procedures at Masaka District local government, to examine the challenges of procurement procedures on local governance in Masaka and identifying solutions in order to develop a strong procurement procedures. To achieve these objectives the researcher sampled 30 respondents from Masaka District Local Government Council. The study utilized qualitative research methods; two data collection instruments were used: Structured questionnaire and Focused Group Discussion. The collected data was presented in tabular and figurative forms and analyzed statistically to decipher findings.en_US
