Abstract
This thesis Is entitled “Community participation and Teacher motivation
in selected primary schools. It Is presented as a result of a research
that was carried out In selected primary schools in Minakulu Sub County, Oyam District The study was carried out basing on three specific objectives, i.e.; to determine the level of community participation in primary schools Minakulu Sub County in Oyam District in Northern Uganda, to establish the level of teacher motivation in primary schools in Minakulu Sub County, Oyam District in Northern Uganda and to establish the relationship between community participation and teacher motivation In primary schools in Minakulu Sub County, Oyam district.
The study is a descriptive correlation design. The study population
constituted of three types of respondents, the school administrators,
teachers, from selected Primary schools in Minakuiu Sub County, Oyam
District in Northern Uganda. A study sample of 63 respondents was
chosen, using Purposive sampling method. Questionnaires and
Interviews were used in collecting both primary and secondary data.
The collected data was analyzed using both qualitative and
quantitative methods
The findings showed that there was a generally an agreement that
there were various aspects of community participation that lead to the
motivation of teachers. In addition, the study found out that there is a
strong correlation between strong financial management systems and
accountability. The researcher concluded that a strong participatory
spirit among local community citizenry leads to the motivation of teachers. He recommends the establishment of tools to develop
community participation, establishment of participatory training
programs and fundamental changes In administrative tools so as to
enhance community participation for better teacher motivation
