Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the use of ICTs and performance of mathematics in Garissa District, Kenya.
Literature review revealed that use of ICTs in Kenyan secondary schools face enormous challenges and may not be easily realized
The research methodology employed for this study was descriptive survey in such design. It employed random stratified sampling technique. The target population was 9 secondary schools.
The sampled population had 3 schools
Questionnaires were used to collect data from the teachers H.oDs and students in Garissa district an interview guide was also used to solicit for data from head teachers.
The data collected was validated, edited and coded before analysis. Quantitative data was analyzed manually to establish the relationship between use of ICTs and performance of
Mathematics in Garissa District, Kenya.
The findings of this study were that teachers were not trained to use ICTs at all. The study further revealed that most of sampled secondary school did not had the capacity to use ICTs. However the respondents were optimistic that use of ICTs improve performance in mathematics.
The researcher recommends that the Ministry of Education to facilitate in in-service of teacher to be ICTs compliant and provide ICT tools in secondary schools.
